Heritage Restoration
We view our restoration work as a contribution to the protection of our heritage. For over 30 years now we have restored a huge range of ironwork from small candlesticks, lanterns and bell pulls to impressive gates and railings. The materials we work with are wrought Iron, cast iron, steel, copper, brass and bronze.
In the early days we always wanted the work we restored to look perfect and our technique and diligence to the preservation of the historic value was not always paramount. Over the years we have learnt the great skill of careful restoration and nowadays go to great pains to ensure as much of the original detail is kept even if it is partly corroded, but largely intact. It is not our job to put right the mistakes or quirks of the original. Even some ancient repairs are left untouched if still effective.
Making a replacement for one of many missing railing parts - Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square.
The entrance gates at Sherborne Castle, Dorset. The gates were fully restored and extended, requiring new decorative castings to match the originals.
Balustrade restoration which involved creating replacement glass handrail pieces to match Lalique originals.
