Bicton Arena Entrance

Project: Restoration of wrought and cast iron entrance gates and reinstatment of historic railings

 

This project involved the complete restoration and extension of the entrance gates at Bicton Arena, East Budleigh. These historic gates were corroded with missing sections and a large vehicle impact had also severley damaged them. A decision was made to widen the entrance and automate the gates to suit modern traffic, preventing further damage.

 

In the next stage of the project the adjacent railings that had been removed during the war were reinstated based on evidence from historic photos.
